Monday, November 06, 2006Another exciting "guest" post!Hi there, it's your friendly guest editor and author's significant other. I just thought that while Sarah is away in Montreal - and considering the topic of her last post - I'd point this out to you. When I saw this I thought, "finally!" because really, the future is so, so slow in getting here. Yes, this is neat, but I'm ready for real robot friends. I want surfing the net to be something more than a time-wasting device. It's funny that the more technology advances the more it seems to model or imitate the things we did before we had technology - like having friends. Or, in the case of Gibson's 'physical' internet, like moving around (when you're actually sitting in a room with your head plugged into the wall). And also the more artificial it gets - I mean in the sense of employing artifice to appear more natural. I knew that English degree was still in there somewhere... 'Til next time! 0 comments
