I'm In! Giggidy Giggidy!

Quick review of the past two weeks:
I ran for LSS VP Exec: campaigning was all last week and voting ends in... an hour. It was intense. Posters everywhere. And quite the race too: I was one of four candidates, the most contentious race of the year.
And all that ended Thursday. Dan's flight arrived at 11:50, and I once again failed to meet him at the airport [augh!]. The final campaign speeches were from 12-1. But then I was freeeeeeee...
We had a lovely time. Went home that night, home to Napoli's pizza and late night coffee. Friday was Cross country skiing. So was Saturday.
In sad news my grandfather's brother and sister both died last week, so I was at the wake Saturday night
Home to Halifax on Sunday.
Home, ugh. Four hours after we got back, stricken with the flu.
I'm still recovering. Today was my first day of classes and something resembling full conciousness. I feel wrung out. But I did get a full free day, in Halifax, with Dan yesterday. So I'm thankful.
And that brings us to today. The Sopinka moot tryouts. And guess what! I made it!
It was great! They had an answer in less than a minute. I feel wonderful. A small class, a trial level moot, evidence in the fall... it's going to be a great year.
And now I'm off to book my flight. I'm not waiting any longer: let's hope that contract arrives soon.
Exams in a week. AAAAUUUGGH!!!!

Coming Around the Corner

I blinked and another week went by. It's almost scary: I don't remember November passing this quickly. In fact, it was terribly slow.
But April's impending exams are leaning on the March clock. The nice thing is everyone a little more relaxed this time around. IE: plans to party tomorrow night, even though the public law take-home comes out Friday. I might actually go. As long as my wallet doesn't get stolen I'll be better off than last year.
Angie and I enjoyed a round of pool after Torts. We were very evenly matched: I've never seen a single loonie last so long. This might be the beginning of be-autiful roomateship.
In other news, the CUSIDnet clone for the school is almost off the ground. I'm very pleased with the results so far. Just think, years from now, when students are checking compulsively instead of studying... they'll have me to blame :)
Delusions of grandeur, I know.
Contracts Ho!

Paradise City

Law Ball was better than expected, so I'm pleased. Four of us went to Angie's to get ready, and I feel slightly less girly in comparison to everyone else. Even at my slowest, I was still ready in 20 minutes as opposed to everyone else's 50, with the added task of doing my own hair. Impressive.
The Lord Nelson is nicer than I remember, with those large bathrooms that have chairs in front of the mirrors. We easily spent a half hour there during the course of the night, re-stitching torn hems and mending shoes. And lots of chatter :)
The food was OK, and John ordered a good bottle of wine. But then dance was definitely my favourite. Everyone was there to have a good time, and we did, with a vengence.
Mmmm... my grandmother gave me this new shampoo for Christmas, and I used it to get ready last night. My hair smells increadible. And the curls and whatnot stood up really well. I'm dressy in my PJ's.
So back to the real world I guess. Life should be slowing down from here on in. Unless... the LSSers were discussing next week's elections and there's room in VP Academic for me. Whoo boy. We'll wait and see.
Listening to the second of the summer's MP3 disks. I'm really glad I did that. The music brings me back.

Speaking of the summer: I'd like to toast [wend] Jesse: happy birthday!

The Wednesday Night Tradition

I haven't been posting regularly since... spring break!
Ok, first things first. Exactly three weeks ago today I accepted a job from the federal government that places me in France this summer.
woot!
[soon afterwards I got Dan's news. WOOT!]
The St. FX tournament was last weekend. I still prefer east to central, but we all saw that coming. I'm also still thinking about the exec for next year.
And Sunday morning I went out for breakfast with Wanda. DELICIOUS. Wanda's the only other adult I know who will order eggs benedict and lemon ice cream pie for breakfast. Oh wow. Heaven.
My moot was Friday, it went swimmingly, we get the grades tomorrow. My public law take-home exam is next weekend. Model parliament Friday [I'm proposing our bill: Liberal education critic, huzza!] and Law Ball Saturday.
And tonight was the regular beer-and-burgar tradition, post-torts at the Grawood. I had such a yen for pool and Tabs obliged.
I'm having so much fun I don't want to leave! Why can't we just have classes year round?
Parce-que c'est l'heure d'apprendre des nouvelles sacrees. And one thing you can't have too much of is French swears. Maybe I'll finally figure out what the Merovingian [?] is saying in "Reloaded".
Hahahah. We're getting reloaded Saturday, that's for sure. Mffff.

Where the Beaches Are

Once in a while something happens. Something so big that it takes time before I can find the words to describe it here.
Even then, it's not a matter of words so much as it is a belief of what they mean.
Dan got his letter. He's coming to Dal.
. . .
YES! Yesyesyesyesyeyseyseysyesyeyseyseyseysyesyesyeyseysyes!
I can't tell you how good this feels, how happy I am.
He called Tuesday. I still can't quite believe it.

I can't wait for September! [Wow. Five months from tomorrow will be the first day of school. So much to look forward to].

It's such good news I almost wanted to keep it all to myself. But everytime I see one of you I just have to say it. So now the news is out. Next time you see me, you'll know why I'm grinning non stop.

Incoming!

Thursday: the factum and Barnett Award presentation.
Friday: St. FX tournament
Saturday: ibid
Next Friday: Model Parliament
Next Saturday: Law Ball

Whew!
Tickets went on sale for the ball today. I need to figure this out. Maybe Angie and John will stick with me for the night. I'd better make a plan now, or not go at all: all those happy little couples have a way of really getting to me.
The Dress can only compensate for so much :)
