Tuesday, March 16, 2004What’s the sound of one hand clapping?
In our discussion of Othello in today’s Shakespeare seminar my professor made a pleasing observation. A character, I can’t remember who, says something to the effect that “I wish that I were you, for I cannot kiss myself”. This guy is a narcissist, to say the least.
Anyway, Wes asked if that really were impossible. After all, when our lips are closed aren’t we kissing ourselves? Think about it. Then feel it. As you become aware of the feeling of both lips pressing each other...bam! Feels like a kiss, don’t it? Just as talking about blinking makes you blink more, talking about lips will make you more aware of them. Psyche! 0 comments
