The Spot

I’ve had a killer couple of days. I finished my exams very favorably: I had a lovely final. And Emilie’s boyfriend Mike was in town, to keep my mind off the terrible waiting... Then I got bumped off my flight from Halifax to Sydney for no discernable reason at all. That’s bad. Then I got a 200$ flight voucher and a15$ meal voucer as compensation: that’s good.
Yesterday afternoon and today were consumed with drives to and from Halifax. We arrived at the airport just in time to pick Mike up: his flight was also an hour late. Then we had supper at a reallllllyyyy fabulous restaurant.
Up at 8, drove back here. After getting lost a lot. I must admit, part of my “lost” was an attempt to stop at Subway, to say hi to Eddie. I mean, Subway could have directions, right? Didn’t work out, needless to say.
I’m really happy to be here. Mike is lots of fun. He put up with our tourist-guiding of Halifax and everything. As soon as we got home we had dinner like one big happy family. I think he’s developing an allergy to the cat, but other than that we’re fabulous.
And yet, as soon as I get one part of life peachy-keen, the other counterbalances. Fuck it. If my family is providing happiness for a change, then they’re where it’s at. Not to be too down, but I’ve been alone and lonely for most of my degree. I’m gonna continue the mini happiness vacation I’ve been enjoying the past two days through ‘till tomorrow. No moping or worrying. Family pot roasts, shopping trips, family visits, skating and hiking: we’re gonna do it all.
Which reminds me: I’m in town right now. If anyone wants to see LOTR or something tomorrow night, that would be cool. Or go on a pub crawl, or party at my house. I’ve got cable now! Yay!
